This article explains how personal data is used when learners register for and sit a CompTIA certification exam delivered through Pearson VUE.

It clarifies what data is collected, our role as a training provider, and where learners should direct any data protection requests.

Privacy notice for Certiport exam registration

When you enrol on a course that includes a CompTIA certification exam, you must register and complete your exam through Pearson VUE systems.

This process is separate from your course enrolment with us.


  • CompTIA provides and owns the certification programme
  • Pearson VUE delivers the exam and manages the testing and proctoring platform

What personal data is involved

As part of the registration and exam process, your personal data is provided directly to CompTIA and/or Pearson VUE.

This may include:


  • Your full name
  • Email address
  • Date of birth
  • Candidate ID and account details
  • Exam booking and result information
  • Government-issued ID (identity verification)
  • Photos, video, and audio recordings (online proctoring)
  • Screen activity and exam session recordings
  • IP address and device/system information

Our role

  • We do not control the registration systems
  • We do not control how your data is processed for exam delivery or proctoring
  • We act only as a training provider, facilitating access to certification exams


Where required, we may:

  • Provide limited learner details to support exam access or booking
  • Support communication between you and the exam provider

CompTIA role

CompTIA acts as an independent Data Controller.

CompTIA is responsible for:


  • Defining certification requirements
  • Managing candidate certification accounts
  • Issuing certifications and maintaining certification records
  • Determining how certification data is used

Pearson VUE role


Pearson VUE acts as an independent Data Controller for exam delivery and proctoring.

Pearson VUE is responsible for:

  • Processing exam registrations
  • Delivering exams (test centre or online)
  • Conducting identity verification checks
  • Performing remote proctoring (including monitoring and recording exam sessions)
  • Managing exam session data, recordings, and results delivery

AWS role

AWS acts as an independent Data Controller.

AWS is responsible for:


  • Defining certification requirements
  • Managing candidate certification accounts
  • Issuing certifications and maintaining certification records
  • Determining how certification data is used

Cisco role

Cisco acts as an independent Data Controller.

Cisco is responsible for:


  • Defining certification requirements
  • Managing candidate certification accounts
  • Issuing certifications and maintaining certification records
  • Determining how certification data is used

Privacy information


Your data protection rights

Any requests relating to your personal data, including:

  • Access requests
  • Corrections
  • Deletion requests


must be directed to CompTIA or Pearson VUE, depending on the nature of the request.


We are not able to action requests relating to:


  • Exam delivery data
  • Proctoring recordings
  • Certification records
