What are ICDL exams
ICDL exams are internationally recognised digital skills certification exams.
ICDL stands for International Certification of Digital Literacy.
These exams confirm that learners can use digital tools confidently, safely, and effectively for study, work, and everyday tasks.
ICDL certifications available
The following ICDL certifications are available through ICDL Ireland.
All exams are completed online, delivered through Cenit College, and taken remotely.

How ICDL exams work with eCollege and Cenit College
For eCollege learners, ICDL exams are completed through Cenit College, an approved ICDL Test Centre.
- Exams are completed online
- No physical test centre is required
- Exams are supervised using online proctoring
You will complete your exam from your own location, following instructions provided by Cenit College.
Booking your ICDL exam
You do not book your ICDL exam at the start of your course.
You become eligible to sit your exam once you reach a specific stage and complete the exam booking questionnaire.
All booking instructions and next steps will be shared with you when you are ready.
What to expect on exam day
- The exam is completed online
- You will complete practical tasks
- Your session is supervised
- Results are usually available after completion
