Overview
This article explains the most common issues learners may encounter when accessing Skillsoft content or when progress is not tracking correctly. It also provides guidance on preventing and resolving these issues.
1. Skillsoft Scheduled Maintenance
Your course material is provided by a third party supplier called Skillsoft.
Skillsoft performs regular scheduled maintenance, during which access to course content may be unavailable.
Scheduled Maintenance Windows
- Wednesdays from 6:00 am to 7:00 am
- Sundays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
If you are unable to access your course during these times, this is expected behaviour.
If the system appears unavailable outside these maintenance windows, please report the issue to Cenit College for investigation.
2. Skillsoft Course Playback and Exiting Correctly
Progress tracking can be affected if a course is closed incorrectly.
Cause
If you close the course using the browser close option instead of the Course Player Exit button, progress may not be saved correctly.
Solution
Always exit a Skillsoft course using the Exit button located in the Course Player.
If you see a warning message when closing a tab or browser, select Cancel and exit using the Exit button instead.
3. Network Connection Issues
Cause
An unstable or temporary internet connection can prevent progress from saving correctly.
- Weak or unstable WiFi
- Public or shared networks
- Temporary service interruptions
Solution
Ensure you are connected to a strong and stable network before starting a course.
If possible, use a wired Ethernet connection instead of WiFi.
4. Skillsoft Books 24x7 Download Limits
Skillsoft Books 24x7 includes download limits to ensure fair usage.
Important Information
Each learner can download up to 15 chapters within a 90 day period.
After this period ends, the download counter resets.
5. Browser Configuration Issues
Progress and playback issues may occur if your browser is not configured correctly.
Recommendation
- Your browser is up to date
- Pop ups are allowed
- Cookies and local storage are enabled
6. Course Left Open or Inactive
Cause
The Course Player uses inactivity timers that can affect progress tracking.
Solution
If you expect to step away from training, exit the course properly to ensure progress is saved.
