TABLE OF CONTENTS

What are CompTIA exams

CompTIA exams are internationally recognised IT certification exams.

They validate technical knowledge and practical skills in information technology.

CompTIA certifications are vendor-neutral, meaning they are not linked to a single technology provider.

They are widely used by colleges, training providers, employers, and industry bodies to confirm IT competence.

CompTIA exams are commonly taken by learners pursuing careers in:

  • IT support
  • Networking
  • Cybersecurity
  • Technical and digital roles

Examples of CompTIA certifications

Common CompTIA certifications include:

  • CompTIA A+ for entry-level IT support skills
  • CompTIA Network+ for networking fundamentals
  • CompTIA Security+ for cybersecurity fundamentals

The specific CompTIA exam you take depends on the programme you are enrolled in.

How CompTIA exams work with eCollege and Cenit College

CompTIA exams are not delivered directly by Cenit College.

For eCollege learners, CompTIA exams are:

  • Booked directly by the learner
  • Scheduled through the Pearson VUE CompTIA website
  • Completed online or at an approved test centre

Important information

Cenit College provides an exam voucher when you are eligible.

Do not purchase a CompTIA exam voucher yourself.

Personally purchased vouchers cannot be reimbursed.

You are responsible for booking your CompTIA exam through Pearson VUE once you receive your voucher.

Booking your CompTIA exam

You will book your CompTIA exam yourself using the Pearson VUE CompTIA website.

You cannot book your exam at the start of your course.

Instead:

  • You reach a specific point in your course where you are ready to sit the exam
  • At that stage, you are:
    • Given an exam voucher
    • Advised which CompTIA exam to select
    • Provided with guidance on when and how to book
    • Given information to help you prepare

Once ready, you will:

  • Create or sign in to a Pearson VUE account
  • Select your CompTIA exam
  • Choose an exam date and delivery option

What to expect on exam day

Your exam experience depends on the delivery option you choose.

If you choose an online exam:

  • The exam is completed remotely
  • It is supervised online by Pearson VUE
  • You take the exam from your own location

If you choose a test centre exam:

  • You attend an approved Pearson VUE test centre
  • The exam is completed on-site under supervision

You receive clear instructions from Pearson VUE in advance.
