How many attempts do I have for ICDL diagnostics and exams?
To progress to an ICDL exam, learners are allowed a maximum of three attempts for each diagnostic test and exam.
ICDL is set at QQI Level 4, which means it can be challenging, especially if you are returning to study or building confidence with IT skills. Using all three attempts does not mean you have failed; it simply indicates that some additional preparation may be helpful before continuing.
If all attempts have been used, we strongly recommend completing a short preparatory course to strengthen your core learning and study skills. Many learners find this step makes a significant difference when they return to ICDL.
