TABLE OF CONTENTS

Why videos do not play

If you are unable to view videos in your course, this is most commonly caused by pop-up blockers or browser security settings.

Some course videos open in a new window or an embedded video player.

If pop ups are blocked, the video player may not open correctly.

This can result in videos:

  • Not playing at all
  • Opening briefly and closing
  • Appearing to load but not starting

This issue can affect learners using:

  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari

It can also be caused by:

  • Built-in browser pop up blockers
  • Browser extensions such as ad blockers
  • Security or antivirus software with pop-up blocking enabled

How to fix the issue

To resolve this issue, you need to allow pop ups for the course website in your browser settings.

Once pop-ups are allowed, refresh the course page and try opening the video again.

You can watch a short step-by-step video tutorial showing how to adjust pop-up blocker settings:

If videos still do not play after allowing pop-ups, please try the following.

  • Refresh the course page
  • Log out and log back into your course
  • Try a different browser
  • Temporarily disable browser extensions such as ad blockers
  • Ensure your browser is up to date
